How We Work

Our design and production process consists of six phases:
OBSERVATIONAL MEETINGS
BLUE SKY
THE IDEA
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
PRODUCTION
INSTALLATION

OBSERVATIONAL MEETINGS
A personal, trusting relationship is essential. You’ll discuss your industry/products/clientele, project goals, financial parameters, past experiences and future targets. We’ll listen, ask questions, discuss creative directions, cost factors and timing considerations. Together we’ll determine where we are headed and learn from each other which directions are worth pursuing. Everyone will come away with a clear understanding of each other and the goals of the Project.

BLUE SKY
This fast-moving phase produces imaginative concepts that may surprise you. Anything is possible – and it feels great! This is where new ideas are encouraged, where unforeseen visions blossom. There is no bad idea at this point. Everyone opens up to untried possibilities as we lead a small group primed with letting go of the past. Albert Einstein once said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

THE IDEA
Several plausible possibilities are honed down to the best single concept. This is the source from which all else grows. Refinements of the Idea take place as we determine the best means and people to produce the physical elements. You clearly see what is coming and begin your planning.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Fine tuning the Idea. Storyboards are sketched. Mockups are built, refined and re-worked. Specialists appear on the scene to hone the varied elements; artists render, engineers calculate, media designers animate. Together everyone produces working documents (drawings, animatics, schedules) to be used as tools to produce the final creation.

PRODUCTION
The most exciting phase in our opinion. Everyone begins to physically see and hear what is coming. EffectDesign provides complete supervision over all aspects of production – ensuring on-time, on-budget results. Our people come from production and know first hand how to handle production flow.

INSTALLATION
The most critical phase. The clock is ticking and we know it. Deadlines and quality are paramount as media, sets/exhibits, lighting and audio come together. Our production manager(s) watch every detail – from load-in to final touch-ups. This is when you know you have selected the best people for your project.
